Daily Sketch: Exploding Skull

Simple, effective and lots of fun, I’ll show you how to create this exploding skull, using black paper, acrylic paint and your finger prints.

Start with the skull outline using white acrylic paint.
Use your finger prints to dab inwards on the skull, but be careful to leave space for the eye and nose sockets.
Next come the gappy teeth. All skulls have gappy teeth, right?
I have used silver paint around the edge of the skull, eye sockets and in the gaps between the teeth to provide a shading effect. Use the silver paint to fill in the nose socket.

Now for the colour explosion. Use any colours you desire. I find it easiest to squeeze paint from the tube directly on to the paper and then use your finger tips to blend the colours together.

Use white paint for the final touch, dabbing this around the picture to give an effect of fragments of exploded skull.
Enjoy creating your exploding skulls and if you fancy posting a pic here, I would love to see your artwork.

Have fun!
